Introduction

ACCA and Oxford Brookes University (OBU) have worked together to develop a BSc in Applied Accounting, which is available exclusively to ACCA students who wish to obtain a degree while studying towards the ACCA qualification. BSc degree and ACCA professional qualification are a powerful combination that puts you in demand with employers and improves your career prospects.

Along with taking their ACCA examinations, this valuable initiative enables students to submit a research and analysis project to Oxford Brookes University and be awarded a BSc (Hons.) degree in Applied Accounting.

The Oxford Brookes BSc (Hons) Degree in Applied Accounting is a globally recognized, highly regarded qualification, which is based on practical, professional, employer–driven requirements. It enables you to prove that not only have you mastered the knowledge required for the degree, but that you also have the key skills required by graduate employers.

When can you join us

If you have completed your ACCA exams up till the Applied Skills level, i.e., if you have passed your Financial Reporting (FR), Audit & Assurance (AA) and Financial Management (FM) exams, or if you are about to pass them, then this is the time for you to add another feather in your already shining hat – with a BSc Applied Accounting degree!

There are two submissions in a year, in May and November, each year. You can plan when you want to begin working on the project, depending on your other academic commitments. Our suggestion is that you give at least two months to this project.

Attendance

Attendance in meetings and meeting deadlines regularly is compulsory to ensure timely completion of project. Failing to meet more than two deadlines or continued absence from meetings as agreed with the mentor, will result in an automatic drop from the batch, and no fee will be carried forward or refunded

Transfer

Fee once submitted, cannot be transferred to any other qualification offered by SKANS ECampus

Refund

A full refund can be claimed within one week of the first meeting with the mentor. Post this deadline, no refund requests will be entertained.

Freeze

The student can request that the enrolment be deferred. If approved the enrolment will be deferred to the next immediate submission attempt, however this will be subject to the following terms and conditions:

Request made within 1 week of the first meeting with the mentor – Enrolment will be deferred without deduction

Request made after the above timeline – Enrolment will be deferred with deductions, where % deduction will be based on the number of meetings covered with the mentor/ work done.

The % will be finalised by the SKANS ECampus team and communicated to the student ahead of the enrolment being deferred.

Basma Noor

She is ACCA qualified and a CFA Charterholder. She has been a registered mentor for BSc with Oxford Brookes University for the past ten years and has mentored multiple students over these years, from different parts of the world. Many of her mentees have gone on to pursue Masters’ qualifications from reputable universities, globally, are now working in different parts of the world.

    Conducting research work, preparing work, and making improvements according to the feedback given by the Mentor, are all sole responsibilities of the mentee. Mentors are neither obligated nor expected to edit the working draft for mentees or reduce word counts or make any amendments to research work.

    The mentors will remain available only until the batch deadline communicated by the department. After that, neither the mentor nor the department will be bound to conduct meetings with the mentee, or to provide any support.

    Failing to meet more than two deadlines as agreed with the mentor, will result in an automatic drop from the batch, and no fee will be carried forward or refunded.

    If the mentor finds any evidence, that a mentee has indulged or currently indulges in plagiarism, or attempts to solicit the mentor into doing any work for the mentee, the mentoring relationship will end immediately Mentors reserve the right to sign off the RAP. If the Mentor concludes that a RAP should not be submitted, due to academic reasons, they reserve the right to refuse to vet the RAP.

    Mentees bear the sole responsibility for the submission of the RAP.

    In case that a mentee is unsuccessful in their RAP and wishes to resubmit, they will be treated as a new enrolment and will have to go through the admission process again.
